Dear Cowan Friends and Families,

Cowan Avenue Elementary School boasts a long-standing culture of giving. For years Cowan families, teachers, staff and administrators have worked together to bring enrichment programs that ensure our students are prepared academically for their future. This year LAUSD has been hit with budget cuts of monumental proportions. That means our own Cowan Avenue Elementary school budget has been dramatically impacted. So now more than ever we need to pull together to raise funds to safeguard our children’s education.

Each year Cowan Avenue Booster Club holds a Direct Donation Drive to help raise funds for the school. All parent groups, staff and administration are represented on the Booster/PTO Executive Committee. Our fundraising priorities are a collaborative effort between all the groups with the sole purpose of bringing educational enrichment programs to all of our children. In 2010-2011 contributions to Cowan Avenue Booster/PTO will support programs such as:

Computer lab Learning Lab Special Education Vocal Music Copiers (homework)

($10,000) ($25,000) ($5,000) ($18,000) ($24,000)

These vital programs were identified and prioritized by parents, teachers and administration. Their costs add up to nearly $90,000. All of them are essential to the quality education we have come to value at Cowan.

To ensure the sustainability of these programs, we’re asking every family to support our annual direct drive campaign goal of $40,000. The Direct Donation Drive is a critical element of our fundraising efforts. 100% of every dollar donated goes to provide Cowan enrichment programs. Whether it’s $25 or $500, your contribution will count and help support our school. If that is not feasible, whatever fits your budget is great. 100% participation from all of our families is our goal. Your donation will be acknowledged with your family’s name posted at the school, on the website and in the Cowan Crier.
