Dear Cowan Parents:

Cowan Avenue has a dress code and a school uniform policy.  The Los Angeles Unified School District and Cowan Avenue School believe that appropriate dress and school uniforms help contribute to a productive learning environment. The administration, teaching faculty, Governance Council and Local School Leadership Council have all agreed that Cowan Avenue should maintain and promote its uniform policy.

Our goal is to keep the focus of the classroom on learning, and we believe that school uniforms and wearing the proper attire are essential values toward meeting that objective.

Please take a few moments to review BOTH the dress code policy and the School Uniform Policy with your child.  If you have any questions or would like additional information, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or the school office at (310) 645-1973.   If you are considering opting out of the uniform code, you must complete the opt out form available in the main office, and return it to your child’s teacher.  Even if you as a parent opt out of the school uniform policy, the student MUST follow the student dress code.

Although Cambridge Uniform Company is the official uniform supplier for Cowan, you can obtain your uniform from ANY store or supplier that is suited to your financial needs!

Every family must complete and return the form which indicates that they have read and understood the dress code and will support its implementation.
