Safety Drop-Off Program
Cowan’s morning curbside Safety Drop-Off Program enables parents to drop off their children in front of the school in a safe and controlled manner. Parent volunteers wearing orange vests and identification cards staff the program Monday through Friday from 7:40 am to 8:05 am.
(Please note that if you have time, you are encouraged to park and walk your child onto campus.)
Car Route
To access the Safety Drop-Off Program, follow this safety route:
1. 77 th Street to Kentwood Avenue (North);
2. Kentwood Avenue (North) to Wynkoop Street (West);
3. Wynkoop Street (West) to Cowan Avenue (South).

…make U-turns in the safety zone. |

…have your child's backpack ready before entering the safety drop off zone. |
…exit your vehicle to assist your child with his or her backpack. |

…come to a complete stop in front of the safety drop-off zone. |
…speed up when entering the safety drop-off zone. |
|
…wait in the car line patiently while the volunteer ushers you in and opens your car door. |
…rush ahead, cut off or pass other drivers, or drive on the opposite side of the street. |

…make eye contact with the volunteer and let them open your passenger side door. |
…allow your child to open the door themselves without the assistance of a volunteer. |
|
…enter into the safety drop-off zone only if you’re planning to use the assistance of the volunteers. |
…enter the safety drop-off zone if you don’t intend to use the assistance of the volunteers; don’t park or impede other drivers who are using the program. |

Volunteers
Parent and community volunteers make the Safety Drop-Off Program work. Please sign up to help with this very important program. The total time commitment for each morning is just 40 minutes, and whether you’re available once a week or once a month, your help is needed and appreciated.
